Learner Showcases
We have regular ‘Marketplace’ projects that we work on together to share ideas with each other. These projects focus on a shared stimulus for example, a plastic bottle where all the schools explored, investigated and shared ideas with each other at a Marketplace event held at Ysgol John Bright.
Our next focus is based around the Eurovision song contest. Each school has a country as their stimulus and they will present their work at the market place but we’ve taken it a step further with all eight schools writing and performing their own songs which will be live streamed from Ysgol John Bright to all the primary schools who will be voting!
Our transition experiences for Years 5&6 are planned across the year where teachers of Cymraeg, Spanish, Science, Mathematics and Music visit the feeder primary schools to work with learners and teachers in block sessions.
Professional Learning Opportunities
One of the areas we wanted to develop this year was to create further opportunities for more practitioners to meet together. We as Heads and deputies have strong working relationships. By creating our Forums, we are beginning to roll this out further across our schools. We have used twilight sessions to meet together at YJB as staff in AoLE teams to discuss where we are as schools in terms of CfW focusing on the unpacking Statements of What Matters and Progression Steps. We have a Deputy Head forum, an ALNCo Forum and more recently we have set up a Foundation Learning Forum who are looking at progression. Our Chairs of Governors have also begun to meet with the intention of meeting at each school, to share experiences and to support each other.
We have shared professional learning opportunities over the year including:
RVE training
RSE training,
CfW training
